CTC has many years of experience in the field of designing composite products. Whereas we once started in wind energy (rotor blades, nose cones, nacelles), these days CTC is more and more concerned with composite applications in the automotive, construction and civil engineering. This is to be expected as a composite is a combination of materials with many advantages. It can, for example, withstand extremely heavy loads. But composites are also lightweight and can be shaped into any form. That’s why in various markets, solutions with composites are gaining more and more ground.

Specialists make the difference
Mechanisms for deformation and fracture for composites are very complicated. Certainly compared to classical construction materials such as steel, wood and concrete. The models describing these mechanisms are complex. CTC works with up to date, very advanced software especially developed for composites. Furthermore a good design has taken into account materials, processes and production.

Always making the right choice
A characteristic of composites is the layered construction. Per layer, the direction, amount and the nature of the fiber can vary. This can be optimized to produce the desired characteristics. As a result of this, many more degrees of freedom are created for the design than those that are customary for classical construction materials.
Making the right choices is the hardest part of the whole design process. Extensive knowledge and experience is required for this. With CTC you’re at the right place. Where necessary, an option can be substantiated by making use of our own test facility.

You determine
During the design process many choices must be made. The choice for the construction and the execution of the construction details, materials, processes and the desired production all influence each other. CTC views all these aspects integrally, beginning at the concept stage. Of course CTC collaborates closely with you and/or your eventual producer. The aim of every design is “fit for purpose and fit for production”. CTC advises you about the optimal interpretation. In consultation, you, as the client, decide the final shape, composition and production. Especially for the Spanish speaking market, a branch has been established in Madrid.

Specific Design.
CTC has considerable know-how in the field of aerodynamics. Our specialists can determine the exact, optimal aerodynamic design for a product.
However, sometimes architecture or industrial product design is especially important in the process. Ergonomics also can play a part in the final design. In that case CTC co-operates with various specialists in these fields.

Result of design
We report the final result in calculation reports and a description of the construction of the product. In addition the 3D CAD models, (production-) drawings and specifications for materials, processes and equipment. These are clear, complete and well workable for every manufacturer. They enable you to make or have the product made and to do the necessary buying . CTC has a team of specialists available that takes care of the implementation and manufacture of composites globally.
Sometimes it is necessary to have the design externally certified and/or have the design tested true to scale. This depends on the area of application. CTC has abundant experience with such courses. We will be pleased to carry them out for you to your full satisfaction.

Independent and objective
CTC is in no way connected to producers of raw materials, semi manufactured products or equipment. We have no production interest of our own. Therefore CTC is always able to offer you independent and objective advice.

Two special situations:

CTC has a unique cooperation with Huiteng for the Chinese wind energy market. This is one of the largest manufacturers of composite parts for this market.
In joint ventures in China and India, moulds for composites are being built suitable for the production of composite products by way of the hand lay-up/spray-up process or by way of the variations of the infusion/RTM process.
